Micasa Gets Hiding From Professor & His Durban Crew

It was kwaito versus house at the Mapungubwe Arts and Cultural Festival.
Literally . . .

All hell broke loose backstage as award-winning kwaito star Professor and his crew had a slight “disagreement” with the boys from award-winning house group Mi Casa.
The incident happened in the early hours of Monday morning at the Polokwane Cricket Club during Limpopo’s most celebrated event, the Mapungubwe Arts and Cultural Festival.
Sunday Sun witnessed some shoving, pushing, warm klaps and the use of derogatory words.
This resulted in Mi Casa’s new manager, Collin Mokgaotsi, running to the cops for help after getting a warm klap from Professor’s crew.
The brawl was about who gets the spotlight first. Professor wanted to perform before Mi Casa even though he arrived late.
But Sunday Sun can reveal that Mi Casa arrived an hour early for their performance.
And that was when the sh*t hit the fan . . .
One of the MCs, who also witnessed the fight, told Sunday Sun that Professor said he didn’t want to perform for half a crowd.People were already leaving the event due to the cold weather.
Professor’s name did not appear on the official programme for the event, but he was announced by the MC mid-concert, after popular group Uhuru cancelled their gig to perform in Miami in the US.
The MC said: “Professor came in as a replacement for Uhuru, who cancelled at the last minute.
“He found Mi Casa ready after they had waited an hour for their turn to go on stage.
“Professor then decided that he wanted to perform before them.
The MC added: “Professor and his crew, together with his brother DJ Mngani, were unruly.
“They started pushing the Mi Casa boys, J’Something, Dr Duda and Mo T. But the Mi Casa boys didn’t want to get into a fight.
“And that’s when their manager got a shisa mpama.”
To express his anger, Professor took to Twitter and blamed everything on Mi Casa.
His tweet reads: I have to say am disappointed@MiCasaMusic for the unruly behaviour. I don’t usually say things like this but they act like girls.
The One Night Stand hitmaker further said: How can I get discriminated in my own country they just called us funking zulus in Polokwane. I can’t believe.
At the event Professor refused to perform, saying: “The police want to arrest me. I’m not going on stage. I’m not doing that,” he said.
The argument then went on between the police, Mi Casa and the Festival MC.
The Lento hitmaker only went on stage after he pulled J Something from the commotion to make peace and they temporarily reconciled.
Kalawa Jazmee’s publicist, Scotch, said: “This is the first time I’m hearing about this.
“I know Professor was performing in Polokwane, replacing Uhuru after there was a last minute commitment to go to Miami.
“But I haven’t been briefed about what happened there.”
Mo T didn’t want to discuss what happened and referred Sunday Sun to their manager, Collin.
He told the SunTeam: “You must speak to Professor first about that and hear what he says.”
Later in the week, Professor updated his Twitter status, saying: @MiCasaMusic I truly regret what I said cause they had nothing to do with everything. My apologies. Me and my boys are cool.

GARETH CLIFF LOOKS TO FUTURE FOR THE FIRST TIME WITHOUT 5FM AFTER A DECADE

Gareth did his last show today on 5FM and this is what he had to say about his 10 years of marriage with 5FM,""I did my last show on 5FM after a decade at the SABC. It’s time for a change. My team and my audience are like my dysfunctional radio family and we want to offer something new and exciting. After two suspensions and several close-shaves, dozens of BCCSA complaints and almost as many management changes at the SABC, it’s time to get unhinged!
What about the team?
Leigh-Ann Mol, News Anchor alongside Gareth since he hosted the Afternoon Drive in 2003 and moved with him to the Breakfast Show in 2006, has also left 5FM. Leigh-Ann confirmed that this was not an April Fool’s stunt and that she, in fact, would be joining Gareth – “I could always stay at 5FM, drink more and continue farming cats or I could do something really brave. I’ve chosen the latter. I must be drunk!”
Executive Producer Thabo Modisane and Thabo’s Assistant Damon Kalvari crossed the floor from 702 in 2003 to join Gareth on Afternoon Drive and also moved with him to 5FM Mornings in 2006. Both Thabo and Damon will be crossing the floor once again to join Gareth. “The timing is now perfect to embark on a new journey with Gareth” says Damon Kalvari , “As 5fm also prepare for their own voyage into the future, we part ways, like an amicable divorce. In this case, of course, Gareth gets custody of the children. I only hope the catering will be good wherever we’re going”. Thabo Modisane added “It’s been nightmare keeping Gareth within the rules. Hopefully I won’t have to do that where we’re going”.
GC TEAMMabale Moloi, the “baby” of the team, joined Gareth with the launch of his breakfast show when he introduced traffic reports for the first time on 5FM. Mabale, then an honours student at KZN University, called into the show one afternoon and before she knew it, she became what Gareth called “the listener in the studio”. Mabale commented, “My family thought I was crazy to defy convention and ditch microbiology for this crazy white boy. It was the best move I’ve ever made and I’m again excited about following Gareth into the future”.
The Ginger Ninja Sports Coach Sias du Plessis was the last member to join to the team and that comes with a penalty! Sias still has time to serve.
5FM Mornings comes to end but we’re just getting started. April is the month of Idols Theatre week at Sun City and holidays. 1st May will usher is a whole new era and I look forward to you joining me. Stay tuned!""

Thembi Seete Accused of Stealing Fiesta Black 's Song

Boom Shaka star and Music industry veteran, Thembi Seete & DJ Ganyani have been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons over the past few days , Xigubu Vocalist Thandi Mokgoankgoa , known in the music industry as Fiesta Black is alleging that Thembi stole the now popular song 'Thuntsha Lerole' from right under her nose , and was apparently assisted by DJ Ganyani.

Apparently Fiesta Black became absolutely hysterical upon hearing the song being blasted at Bujy Bikwa 's Birthday shindig recently.
She supposedly even went to the DJ Booth to try stop the music & explain to the crowd that the song playing belongs to her

Fiesta Black said “I recorded that song on May 23 last year at Ganyani Entertainment in Meadowlands, Soweto.”
Producer Tibi, real name Matibisi, claims he co-wrote the song with Fiesta Black and alleges Mokgoankgoa knew from the word go the song was meant for Seete.

“I wrote the song with Fiesta Black and she knew when she recorded it that she was doing the song for Thembi,” Tibi told the paper.
On the other hand DJ Ganyani had interesting words for Thembi Seete.“I am furious. Since when does Thembi know how to write? Since her days of A ke tsebe nka iketsang? It is a pity that I have not yet copyrighted the song, but I have proof of when the song was recorded. I want to deal with her and literally thuntsa lerole (raise the dust),”

Fiesta Black is prepared to fight this fight to the end until justice to the fact that its her song its served .

KWESTA KEPPS WALKING AND HOPES THE SUN IS GONNA SHINE ON HIM.

The Metro award winning and SAMA nominee hip hop artist Kwesta is teaming up with a rock band “Crash Car Band” on a song called KEEP WALKING. Did i mention Maraza is also on the song? One can’t help it but mime or sing along to Maraza’s catchy hooks/chorus-Crash Car Burn brings a rocky and edgy feel to the song, Kwesta steals the show though with his well constructed lines. Speaking to Kwesta about the making of the song he said:”The song is a result of the great work we did when I performed my song FLAVA with Crash Car Burn at the South African Music Awards after party with Crash Car

Burn 4 years back – we kept touch  because we felt we owed it to each other to do a song  after that performance. We didn’t have anything to work on until recently when Garth a member of Crash Car Burn invited me to their studio to listen to their demo then I heard this song, I took it to Maraza’s studio to record the song, Nota said the song needed some African feel to it, Maraza said he can do something on the song and we had an exceptional song but not amazing. We shipped it overseas for mixing and mastering and it came back sounding amazing.”

The pictures shows behind the scenes of a music video for the song “Keepwalking”.He describes the music video as “lightyears ahead of anything coming out of the local music scene...”it’s the latest single from his critically acclaimed award winning album. The music video exclusively debuts on a new show on Channel O(TURN UP) presented by Siyabonga Ngwekazi this afternoon at 16:00.We’ll upload the video for those who’ll miss the show.

Duncan Revives a legendary Song by Mdu Masilela

New hit  from one of KwaMashu’s finest spitters. Durban based Duncan has just released the follow up single to last year’s smash Khayalami. The track was produced by Ngane Sikobi & has the signature sound that has allowed Duncan‘s label mate Zakwe to gain the notoriety he now enjoys in the South African Hip Hop scene.
Duncan has really put a twist to the original Tsiki Tsiki but i have to say the song is good . Maybe thats because i relate a lot to what he is rapping about. There is still no word on an album title or release date but we can’t wait to hear more from Duncan in 2014.

Bonanga Leaves YFM for Metro FM

"Queen B" exclusively told Sunday World this week that she would be leaving the youth station that helped to build her entertainment profile.
"There is absolutely no bad blood between me and YFM. The station has been nothing but good to me, but I need to grow and reach higher, just like with all my new projects," said the Top Billing presenter.
Leaving was a calculated move, she admitted.

"South Africa's most successful radio DJs, such as Fresh, Oskido and Unathi, all started out at YFM, and I'm proud to be one of their success stories. But there comes a time when we have to grow and spread our wings and allow younger kids a chance to enjoy the same foundational opportunities."

The self-proclaimed "Queen of Everything" said she was ready for a more challenging task, such as talk radio or hosting a drive time music show. "My Tswana is also on point, so I can even do the African stations."
This week, the worker bee was announced as a new judge for the crowning of Miss South Africa at the end of the month - a gig she said came as "a complete shock".

Matheba, former Miss South Africa Amy Kleinhans and magazine editor Kojo Baffoe replace The Road to Miss SA judging panel of Anele Mdoda, Pnina Fenster and DJ Black Coffee, who had earlier recused himself to avoid conflict of interest after it emerged that one of the contestants was a relative of his.
"I was completely shocked when Sun International called me. and offered me the job, telling me that I was a perfect fit for their brand. You can't even measure my level of excitement right now," said Matheba, also the new brand ambassador for BIC Flexi Lady razors.

"I have never had any problems with juggling my various projects. This was always part of the plan. I honestly feel like my career is only really starting now. If you thought you knew enough about me by now, I'm about to prove I'm capable of so much more."

Donald 's new Album ' Black & White ' Out on the 28th March

The much loved Donald Moatshe is all set to release his 3rd studio album album titled , Black & White on Friday, 28 March. With this album, Moatshe continues his development as one of South Africa’s foremost artists. He has certainly upped the ante on this album, collaborating with several high profile musicians.

American R & B Legend Kenny Lattimore joins Moatshe on a song called Spirit that is featured on this project. Other collaborations include Bucie and Big Nuz.
Black & White is a natural progression for the talented musician, who started out as an Afro-Soul singer on his debut album, Just Donald and proceeded to impress with his follow-up album, Train of Love that featured a distinctively house-driven sound.
“Working on my album was an interesting experience; I went into the studio wanting to make something completely new. It was great collaborating with brilliant artists – as my previous album did not include any collaborations. Going to LA and working with a legend like Kenny Lattimore was a humbling and incredible experience. He has become a mentor for me.”

For fans that cannot wait and would like to listen, three of the tracks off Black & White, called Crazy But Amazing; Unpredictable and Over The Moon (Remix) are currently available for download on iTunes.
“We are very excited about Black & White; and about working with a wonderful artist such as Donald Moatshe – we are eager to see what the future holds for this brilliant musician,” says Pino Di Benedetto, marketing director of Universal Music South Africa.

If the album is anything like his previouse albums , then its definetely a sure winner , but Judging from the already released singles , i can say with surety that 'Black & White ' will definitely wow South African fans.

    Bucie Hits The Road

Song bird Bucie has dumped her record label Demor Music over a financial dispute.

The Singer real name is Busisiwe Nqwiliso , Has left her former boss Demor Skhosana , high and dry.

Bucie is known for her hit songs 'Get Over it ' , 'Super man ' and recently 'Easy to love'. Apparently , reasons for the split revolve around money and marketing complaints,

Sources close to the pair say Bucie had a nasty argument with Demor. Bucie was Gatvol because Demor didnt market her material well and used her as his cash cow. She felt Demor was taking her on a different musical path.

Demor has confirmed the split , saying " Its fair for me not to run away from the truth , yes Bucie is no longer my artist and doesnt want to sign a new contract. At the moment we are finalizing formalities of releasing her.

    Euphonik Gives SAMAs the Finger

Popular House DJ Euphonik has shown a middle finger to South African Music Awards . This comes after he won a Metro award for Best Compilation  for his album "For the love of House vol.5 ". Euphonik Told Lesedi FM 's Re Ya Kubeletsa afternoon drive host Nyakalo that he was thrilled to have won the award. But he took a wipe at the SAMAs by saying they were not representing mzansi talent.

He Continued to say that the SAMAs pisses him off because the Judging panel is a few people and some of them have no knowledge of the music industry. "They sit and Judge our music which we produce for our fans.

A couple of year's back in 2009 , Euphonik tweeted that he didn't believe in getting awards , this was after his Colleague DJ Kent took home a SAMA for Best Urban album . Whether it was jealousy over Kent we don't know .Although much of what Euphonik is saying about the SAMAs is true , Personally i don't believe in music awards as they are a bit flawed and biased . And besides lots of DJs buy their votes from Fans , Some even go to the extent of spending thousands in airtime so all of his/her friends can vote . Thus at the end of the day the system is not an indication that the fans love you.
But anyways there is nothing Euphonik & i can do bout it , so lets just keep on playing the music .

DJ Glen Lewis & Unathi 's "The Avenue Radio Show" might come to an End

DJ Glen Lewis and Unathi Msengana might no longer work together when the new line-up is announced. This because the two don’t see eye-to-eye.
The future of Metro FM breakfast duo Unathi Msengana and DJ Glen Lewis reportedly hangs in the balance amidst rumours that he's fed up with the 'Idols' judge's holier-than-thou attitude.

According to the Daily Sun, the only reason why Unathi and Glen are still co-presenting The Avenue breakfast show, is because his contract forces him to do so.

The DJ reportedly complained about working with Unathi as far back as 2012, apparently because he finds her condescending, but was told he was contractually bound to do the show until 2014.

DJ Sbu 's On Air Apology to Limpopo

An on-air apology by Metro FM DJ Sbu, real name Sbusiso Leope, has done very little to placate the people of Limpopo, many of whom recently gathered near Polokwane to burn his CDs.

A vocal ANC supporter, DJ Sbu continues to face the repercussions of a tweet he posted while the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) political party was launching their manifesto in his home town of Tembisa recently.

In the tweet, Leope refers to the citizens of Limpopo as "baris", which they are interpreting to mean 'idiots'. The DJ has, however, since denied that's what he meant, and is insisting that people are taking a slang term too literally.
According to SundayWorld, DJ Sbu's apology on Sakina Kamwendo's Metro FM show has fallen on deaf ears, with many Limpopeans rejecting it due to what they feel were way "too many buts".

So upset are the citizens, that they recently met at The Chuene resort, where they dumped his CDs and those of artists signed to his TS Records label, with the intention of burning them.
They were, however, stopped by Limpopo EFF convener Mike Mathebe.
"Our intention was to burn the CDs, but the provincial leadership of EFF convinced us not to do so until they have exhausted all channels in dealing with this," said community member Biko Mphoka, who organised the protest:

Speaking to the publication, Mathebe explained: "We know emotions are running high, but we felt that burning the CDs is not going to be the solution.
"We agreed that we should petition the SABC to fire him, otherwise we are going to boycott his shows and that will result in the station losing advertising revenue.

"You must know that he did not insult EFF members only but the people of Limpopo. So this is not an EFF matter but one that affects everybody."
