What is house music and where does it come from ?
House music is a style of electronic dance music that was developed by dance club DJs in Chicago in the early to mid-1980s. House music is strongly influenced by elements of the late 1970s soul- and funk-infused dance music style of disco. House music takes disco's use of a prominent bass drum on every beat and developed a new style by mixing in a heavy electronic synthesizer bassline, electronic drums, electronic effects, funk and pop samples, and reverb- or delay-enhanced vocals.
In simple House Music is just a Feeling that can't really be defined. It takes you there... Musically, House Music is a fusion of many different musical styles.
House comes in different styles :
Deep house: A slower variant of house (around 120 BPM) with warm sometimes hypnotic melodies.
Also known as deep disco, deep house is one of the earliest incarnations of house music originating in Philadelphia and New York. When you strip away the vocals and organ sounds of traditional house music, you are left with the deep soulful, extended grooves of deep house. Driven by a deep throbbing bass line, deep house is firmly rooted in the black American soul tradition.
Funk house: Funky house as it sounds today first started to develop during the late 1990's. It is recognizable by its often very catchy bassline, swooshes, swirls and other synthesized sounds which give the music a bouncy tempo. It often relies heavily on black female vocals or disco samples.
SGUGHU House : a mixture of bass and drum elements , with a little bit of tweeter sounds , usually played by taxi's (now played many by dj's from tshwane - sgubhu sa petori) was put on the platform by dj's like mujava around 2003 and bojo mujo supported him . now is played all over south africa.
