On the 25th August 2012, UCT DJ Society will be organizing its first annual student music conference (SMC) which will feature an array of industry experts. The event will be held at the University of Cape Town, Upper Campus from 10 am until 5 pm.
Some of the guest speakers include the likes of DJ Qness, Blanka, Trenton Birch, Mzura, DJ OD and Groove Africa. The conference promises to be one of the biggest educational experiences for aspiring individuals from all boarders of the Western Cape.
The SMC is aimed at educating and motivating aspiring musicians in UCT and Western Cape as a whole. The conference will cover crucial music industry information and tips from industry expects, some of the topics will focus on what to consider before entering the music industry, how to build your brand as a DJ and marketing yourself to clubs and promoters, focusing mainly on the business aspects of music as this is where the gap lies in this industry. This will provide participants with a solid foundation of what the music industry is about and possibly creating career opportunities for many of them.
This initiative was made possible by Nollen Tee-y Khosa aka Lance Jnr , an aspiring DJ and music producer, also the founder of the UCT DJ Society.
