HIP HOP WEEKLY FEATURE "KHULI CHANA" THE MOTSWAKO ORIGINATOR!

Born and raised in North West, Khuli Chana grew up in the dirty streets of Mafikeng as the second born to his loving mother.

His real name is Khulani Morule but as a young boy he was given the name Khuli Chana by a drunk in his local community, the man would refer to him as “Khuli Mchana”. Khuli spent his early childhood with his mom but at the age of nine, he moved to stay with his older brother whom at that time was the king of Motsako music.  His brother inspired him to be what he is today. “The Prince of Motswako”.

Growing up under his brother’s guidance gave Khuli the opportunity to meet boys of his age group that were feeling the Motswako fever.  Khuli Meet two young boys that shared similar dreams and hopes of conquering the Hip Hop scene and together they formed “Morafe”.

Once in a while something magical happens in the ente rtainment industry, and Morafe is that magic. Morafe was originally named The IL Tribe (Intimate Lyrical Tribe ). The group consists of three members: Kgaugelo (a.k.a. Kay-G), Khulani (a.k.a. Khuli) and Lerothodi (a.k.a. Towdee). Morafe came in to the Hip Hop scene with new fuses of vernacular rap with a twist of soul and R&B and involves influential messages in Setswana and English.

After a long and successful career with Morafe, Khuli decided to branch out and explore a solo career; this was the beginning of a journey Khuli will never regret.

Two Albums deep Khuli Chana has grown his brand implacably. He has been nominated for multiple awards and won lots of awards.

This year the Metro Awards have also nominated him for “Best Hip Hop Album of the Year” for his:  Lost in Time Album. The category is very tight battling it out with Pro, Teargas, ShugaSmakx and Zakwe.
