The Metro FM Awards went very well with a few surprises and some moments
of history being made.
Mafikizolo won the best group, best African pop album and best produced
album awards for Reunited. This was expected as Mafikizolo put together
a great album and released incredible singles that got people dancing
throughout the whole of 2013. Mafikizolo owned the night on Saturday by winning
the most awards.
History was made when Kwesta won the best Hip Hop Album with only just a
digital release for DAKAR, never in the history of SA Awards has any South
African artist won best album for an album only released digitally. Kwesta
continues to prove
why he is the King of African Rap.

The stripped-down stage at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Conference Centre
featured some screens and minimal lighting, and there was no live band this
year
Oskido Mdlongwa received a lifetime achievement award and shared the best collaboration and song of the year award with Professor and DJ Bucks for Uhuru’s hit song Y-Tjukuja.
