iFani won Best Rap Album at last night’s 20th annual South African Music Awards (SAMAs) that took place at Sun City. iFani received this award for his debut album, I Believes In Me (1st Quadrant). Off iFani’s I Believes In Me album comes hit singles that have taken the country by storm such as Ewe, Shake, Milli and his latest offering, iingoma Ezimnandi.
“Everyone who bought and listened to my album said the same thing: this is the best Hip Hop album by far. This SAMA is a validation! I’m happy and thankful” expressed iFani after his win.
As a build up to the SAMAs, Rolling Stone Magazine shared their predictions and take on the nominees in the various categories, and pegged iFani as the artist that should win Best Rap Album stating: “When was the last time a rapper who championed innovation over imitation won the "Best Rap Album" award? iFani's I Believes In Me does precisely that”.
This Best Album Award marks iFani’s first SAMA win. He was up against AB Crazy, Kwesta, L-Tido and Molemi.
