“DJ MAHOOTA and Vetkuk are killing my business!”
These were the words of Modipadi Makgopa, the manager of Chris Dinoko Pub in Ga-Pasha, near Burgersfort in Limpopo.
This is after the popular DJs arrived very late for a performance last Saturday when there were only 17 people still in the pub!
Modipadi had booked Mahoota, whose real name is Zane Sibika and Vetkuk, real name Jothama Mbuyisi through SA Breweries’ Morris Masenya.
“We paid them R25000 and signed a contract. They agreed to perform between 11pm and 1am but only arrived at 4am,” she said.
When contacted Masenya, confirmed that the DJs had arrived late and owed R25000 for failing to perform.
“Mahoota and Vetkuk called me to say they were lost but they should have left early if they didn’t know where the pub was. I would have understood if they got lost at 6pm but not at 2am,” he said.
Vetkuk admitted they were late but said he spoke to Masenya all the time along the road.
He said they had a contract with Masenya and not the pub.
Vetkuk added: “SAB is our client and we dealt with Masenya. I have WhatsApp messages, SMSes and GPS co-ordinates which prove we told him we were running late.
“He should have told us on the phone we were too late. We owe SAB an event as our regular client but not that lady. But we are willing to go and do the event again.”
