Both local and international acts are gearing up to treat fans to nothing but the best at this year's Jazz on the Lake in Jozi.
Local names performing include Johnny Clegg, jazz maestro Mbuso Khoza, a capella trio The Soil, Afrosoul crooner Vusi Nova and Limpopo reggae star Colbert Mukwevho.
The Concert's international line-up is made up of afro jazz artist Josh meck from Zimbabwe, Cape Verde's Remna Schwarz and Vidya Shah from India.
Award-winning singer and songwriter Mbuso, who worked with the likes of Sibongile Khumalo and Thandiswa mazwai, said it's been his dream to perform at the "famous" Jazz on the Lake.
I'm excited to be part of this year's line-up because i have worked in Joburg for 13 years and my music has grown a lot after working with different South Africsn artists as well as others outside the country,"he said. A special feature has been added to the event to celebrate woman and pay tribute to Brenda fassie 's heritage and memory. This is a result of the Can You Sing Like Mabrrrr talent competition held earlier in the month.
The competition was part of the Brenda Fassie Legacy project organized by the Joburg Arts Alive international Festival together with Skonyana and Muthaland Productions. Vusi said he is excited to be welcoming spring this year in Jozi with the Jazz on the Lake concert. "I am so looking forward to sharing some of my current work, new tunes and even some Mabrrr tracks i have worked on,"he said.
The Jazz on the Lake concert takes place next Sunday (31 August) Zoo Lake in Joburg from 11am to 5.30pm
