KID X FINALLY RELEASES THE COOLER BOX MUSIC VIDEO

Born in Middleburg on the 13th of October to Florence Baphelile and Sam Mahlangu, Bonginkosi Mahlangu now known as Kid X has had an unorthodox rise to fame having been discovered after being recommended to Teargas’ K.O. by would-be group member Smashis during the formation of Cashtime Fam. Right after scoring three consecutive number ones’ on YFM’s Hot 9 Nine Hip-hop chart, Kid-X put his solo career to an abrupt halt to join AB Crazy & Smashis in the group Cashtime Fam.

Cashtime Fam took a while to cement it’s identity as a group with the changes in personnel and initially being combined with the other three members of Teargas but after the release of Goodbye all the initial stutters were put in the past and the trio had 2011 biggest hip-hop song in the bag. The song topped the charts and the trio had throng of girls around the country we’re eating out of the palms of their hands.

In 2012 the group looked to be headed for bigger and better things but this was put in jeopardy with the departure rapper, vocalist & producer AB Crazy decided to part ways with the group to pursue a solo career. It would seem that was the beginning of the end for Cashtime Fam but Smashis and Kid X continued to hold the fort, going on to win a Channel-O Music Video award for the best Southern African Act. In the same year Kid X made a name for himself outside of the group when he was featured on 2012’s biggest hit, BoomShakaLaka with Kwesta. This was followed a nationwide tour that summer when Cashtime Fam joined forces with Kwesta to embark on the 13 city Hangover Tour, a South African Hip-hop first, which saw them crisscrossing inland South Africa and ending in a sweep of coastline from east to west.

In 2013 Cashtime Fam now a duo, released a 16-track mix-tape titled “Rap Ain’t Dead It’s Outchea” or R.A.D.I.O. This was followed by the release of two singles that topped YFM’s Hot 99 Hip-hop chart namely Nobody & Time Goes By but when they failed to live up to the success previously enjoyed by Goodbye it was back to the drawing board for the group. The duo got together with Hip-hop DJ Speedsta for the release of his single Don’t Worry, which went on to be a huge club hit and was the groups swan song or as some would put it, the last kick of a dying horse. Kid X and Smashis both kept themselves sharp by racking up and unprecedented amount of features individually which saw Kid-X emerge somewhat of hit maker with South Africa’s top DJ’s endorsing him as the go-to-guy to feature on their records.

2014 saw the announcement of the disbanding of Cashtime Fam as a group and rebranding of the stable under the Cashtime Life banner. Following this announcement it was decided that bot Smashis and Kid-X would be resigned to the stable as solo acts. Having had more solo success under his belt Kid X was the natural choice to release a solo single from the disbanded group but his first port of call was another feature and this time he was called upon by Teargas’ K.O. who discovered him all those years ago for his solo single Cara-Cara.

The success of Cara-cara saw Kid X being featured in three of South African hip-hop biggest hits all before releasing a hit single of his own… Cara Cara has gone on to break airplay records spending 3 weeks atop the South African Radio airplay chart (June 2014). This set Kid X up for the release of the most anticipated 1st single in the history of South African Hip-hop and with Pass n’ Special, he’s given his fans all that they’ve been asking for and more. He’s currently working on his debut album slated for a 2015 release but until then you can expect more dust, more vibe and more Skhanda wherever you hear the name Kid X being mentioned.

After the release of Pass n Special Kid X released the perfect second single to parallel the heights that were reached by Pass n Special.Which is called " Cooler Bag ".Like any other smash hit it deserved a music video and CashTimeLife did exactly that by releasing thw " Cooler Bag " music video. If you did not see it on MTVbase(This is where is premiered exclusively) you can view it below.
