Baainar Records Finally releasing NaakMusiQ to join Afrotainment

According to Sunday World , Musician and actor Anga Makubalo, known as NaakMusiQ, will finally join DJ Tira's Afrotainment music stable after a year-long contractual tug of war with Baainar Records.

The actor, who plays Ntando in e.tv's drama Z'bondiwe, said he was happy the deal was finally concluded.

"I joined Afrotainment because I wanted growth, that's what they are providing me with right now," said Makubalo.

"People should understand there are different stages in life.

"Lunga [Nombewu of Baainar Records] gave me one hell of a platform and I thank him for that."

He said DJ Tira, real name Mthokozisi Khathi, had approached him for a collaboration some time ago.

"That time, he requested that we work on a project briefly. He later asked me if I wanted to join the stable and I agreed," he said.

"I will never forget Lunga because he took me from nowhere, having no financial support, and told me he would make me big."

 

 Talking about his future at Afrotainment, Makubalo said: "We are planning a huge project, and fans must be ready for good music.

"We want to release one powerful album and capitalise on it like what AKA is doing with Levels."

He said his album would feature artists such as Black Coffee, DJ Tira, Professor and Big NUZ.

"My album will be released in early October," he said.

"Right now, I'm working on a smash hit to be released soon with Black Motion."

Nombewu confirmed the deal between Baainar Records and Afrotainment was in its final stages.

"They paid me half of the money to release him as an artist," said Nombewu.

"The deal will be finalised next week."

Nombewu emphasised he would never surrender the publishing rights because that was where the "money is".

DJ Tira confirmed the deal, saying: "It's true, we are at the final stages of finalising our agreements with Baainar - to have NaakMusiQ under the Afrotainment umbrella.
"We are happy that someone as dedicated as NaakMusiq will be working with us. We have great plans ahead."
