The pop singer was initially going to drop a sophomore album last year but plans changed and is instead releasing two EPs for fans.
Sharing this via Instagram, the singer wrote “September we begin the journey to the Son of Mercy double EP“.
The singer was initially going to release a sophomore album in 2015 titled “Baddest” but a Sony Music deal came along with distribution and publishing interests putting off the release of the album.
It was then further revealed by Sony that a full length album might not be released in 2016 but rather an EP will be released to promote his brand in the U.S.
“The EP will have a lot of international collaborations on it, and it is expected to be his first introductory project”. A source close to the DMW singer told Pulse.
The album on the other hand will require higher standards before it gets released, Davido will have to put in more work so as to satisfy the music giants and guarantee a return on their investments, and this is all to be ensured by Efe Ogbeni a Nigerian Sony/ATV executive who facilitated the Sony deal for Davido and is executive producer of the album.
Davido so far this year has been working on international as well as local collaborations. He has been seen recording with acts like singer Tinashe, Hip- hop duo Rae Sremmurd, and also believed to have worked with Jamaican singer Popcaan among others.
