NFVF previously announced the cancellation of the SAFTA's. The announcement was on the 16th of March following the announcement of the national Lockdown by the South African president, Cyril Ramaphosa. The prestigious awards were meant to take place on the 27th & 28th of March 2020. Since then, NFVF didn't send out any communication till this past weekend when they announced that the awards will be announced on twitter this coming Wednesday, the 29th of April 2020 at 17:00. The awards will be hosted by Dineo Ranaka.
“It has been an incredibly difficult decision to make for all concerned with the running of these awards. As the NFVF we extend our sincere gratitude to the nominees and creative industry at large for their understanding and patience as we sought to find solutions. Whilst the celebrations for all our winners will be muted this year, it does not take away from all our deserving winners. We consulted widely to find the best possible way of presenting the awards that would still adhear to the lockdown regulations and not put any lives in danger of contracting this deadly virus”. commented Makhosazana Khanyile, NFVF CEO
