On the16th January 2014, the South African Broadcasting Corporation’s (SABC) 's largest commercial radio station, announced the nominees for the 13th METRO FM Music Awards.
The awards which will be hosted by the Kwa-Zulu Natal Provincial Government, City Of Durban and BP South Africa, will be held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Conference Centre (ICC), in Durban on the 01st of March 2014

METRO FM Station Manager, Mr. Martin Vilakazi said “We are excited by the calibre of finalists for this year’s edition of the awards, which will also be celebrating and recognizing musicians who have contributed to the growth of the industry since the dawn of democracy 20 years ago. We urge the public to vote vigorously if they want their favorite musician or group to walk away with a coveted METRO FM Music Award trophy”. This year the famous trophy has been given a make-over that embraces the look and feel, and revolution of the METRO FM Music Awards.
Artists and DJ's all over South Africa have been campaigning non-stop , getting their fans to vote .
You'd be surprised by the things musicians do to win an award. Some vote for themselves more than 100 times , they give family airtime to vote for them . some host events and entrance is proof that you've voted 10-20 times. And yet i thought , The fans should vote based on how good your music is .
But anyways its a Tough competition this year especially in the House music categories , with new Comers like Heavy K and Uhuru making big waves , I have to say these guys have made afrotainment look like they no longer in the game.
But the final verdict will be made in Durban on the 1st March 2014.
