Khuli Chana case ready for trial
A trial date has been set for September 8. Mduduzi Mfundisi Nzuza and Sam Baloyi face charges of attempted murder, reckless endangerment, failure to take reasonable precautions to avoid danger, and negligent use of a firearm.
The pair
allegedly shot at the award-winning musician's car when he failed to
stop at a roadblock they had set up at a petrol station on the N1 in
Midrand on October 28.
Chana, whose real name is Khulane Morule, was wounded in the hand and back.
Police had been searching for a group of men who kidnapped a Bedfordview, Johannesburg, businessman.
The officers allegedly mistook Chana's luxury sedan for that of the kidnappers.
The
ransom money was to have been left at the petrol station. A police
officer has since been arrested and charged with the kidnapping. A warrant of arrest for Nzuza was cancelled on Friday when he produced his mother's death certificate.
He had failed to make his last court appearance due to her death. Both men are out on bail.

Khuli Chana Case Postponed To 11th June 14
Sam Baloyi and Mduduzi Mfundisi Nzuza will be back in court on June 11. The matter was postponed for the defence to get instructions from the State's attorney. SAMA Record of the Year nominees list
Seventeen artists will battle it out for the Record of the Year award at the Samas this April.
In total, twenty songs are in the running for the award which is determined by public vote. The Kia Record of the Year is one of the most eagerly awaited categories at the Samas.
The winner will be announced during the 20th Sama awards ceremony at Sun City on Monday, 28 April 2014. The event will be broadcast live on SABC1 from 8.30pm.

Khuli Chana Gets Nominated for an International Award
The winner will be announced on March 1, the same day as the MetroFM awards.
"This all happened so quickly. One day, I saw a tweet where someone said they heard a Khuli Chana song on a Canadian radio station. Then two weeks later, I got news of the nomination. Doors are really opening for me," said Chana (real name Khulane Morule).
North West Premier Thandi Modise is campaigning for votes to get the three-time South African Music Awards (Sama) winner nominated for the global award.
"Mama Thandi has been awesome. From the first time I won a Sama, when she invited me for breakfast, to being a strong pillar of support through my recent dramas.
"She's always there to celebrate with us when North West artists do extraordinary stuff, which is great. Because for a long time, we've felt our hard work was not being appreciated," he said.
About missing the MetroFM awards, Chana said: "It's sad that I'm going to give the Metros a miss. But this Canadian nomination is paving the way for my big break. I've been working hard at carving out an international career for myself. In the last few months, I've toured with Big Sean and Kendrick Lamar. I had a successful Sleepwalker collaboration with the Parlotones. It has widened my audience. I'm in hustle mode now and need to try cracking it overseas."
Chana is in production for a live double-disc DVD with new material.
"Apart from new songs on the DVD, I'm not releasing an album any time soon. I'm going to milk my last albums until I feel that people have heard enough of my songs," joked Chana.
Born in Mmabatho Unit 2 in Mahikeng, Chana is a product of the local Mmabana talent show, where he won in the best rap and best male artist categories. He was later made brand ambassador of the show.

Count Down to the Metro FM 13th Awards
On the16th January 2014, the South African Broadcasting Corporation’s (SABC) 's largest commercial radio station, announced the nominees for the 13th METRO FM Music Awards.
The awards which will be hosted by the Kwa-Zulu Natal Provincial Government, City Of Durban and BP South Africa, will be held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Conference Centre (ICC), in Durban on the 01st of March 2014

Artists and DJ's all over South Africa have been campaigning non-stop , getting their fans to vote .
You'd be surprised by the things musicians do to win an award. Some vote for themselves more than 100 times , they give family airtime to vote for them . some host events and entrance is proof that you've voted 10-20 times. And yet i thought , The fans should vote based on how good your music is .
But anyways its a Tough competition this year especially in the House music categories , with new Comers like Heavy K and Uhuru making big waves , I have to say these guys have made afrotainment look like they no longer in the game.
But the final verdict will be made in Durban on the 1st March 2014.
