Soweto 76 Youth Day Celebration

The June 16 1976 Uprising that began in Soweto and spread countrywide profoundly changed the socio-political landscape in South Africa. Events that triggered the uprising can be traced back to policies of the Apartheid government that resulted in the introduction of the Bantu Education Act in 1953.
One of the best social night spot in Jozi is hosting a celebration event in honor of the events of June 16 1976 with the event titled ' Soweto 76 ' and the slogan reading ' The flames died out but the fire still burns ' .
The event features top acts Mafikizolo , IFANI and DJ Kent .

Mafikizolo nominated for BET Award

 Mafikizolo has been nominated in the Best International Act (Africa) category at the upcoming Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards 2014.
It was previously reported that the pair had been  invited to perform at the upcoming award ceremony to be held on June 19 in Los Angeles in America.
Now it appears the multi-award winning duo may even return home with an award. They will be up against Toofan (Togo), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Sarkodie (Ghana) and Nigerian artists Davido and Tiwa Savage.
The BET Awards 2014 will be hosted this year by Chris Rock and will see the likes of Beyoncé, Rihanna, JAY Z and Kendrick Lamar all competing for the prestigious awards.

SAMA Record of the Year nominees list

Seventeen artists will battle it out for the Record of the Year award at the Samas this April.

In total, twenty songs are in the running for the award which is determined by public vote. The Kia Record of the Year is one of the most eagerly awaited categories at the Samas.
The winner will be announced during the 20th Sama awards ceremony at Sun City on Monday, 28 April 2014. The event will be broadcast live on SABC1 from 8.30pm.
