International soul singer Joss Stone has arrived on our soil for the first time.
And she hunted down our Afro-pop princess Zahara because she says she was blown away by her music.
The Grammy award-winner jammed with our Sama and Kora awards winner to create magic for a leading online show called Balcony TV, along with singer and guitarist Bongeziwe Mabandla.
Joss also requested that Zahara joins her on stage tonight to sing two songs.
Daily Sun had the exclusive front row and witnessed the three talents come together.
Born Jocelyn Stoker in England, Joss learned Zahara’s Loliwe and Bongeziwe’s Isizathu while the two also remade her hit song, New Born.
On Monday the laid-back atmosphere at Randlords in Braamfontein, Jozi allowed them to be themselves.
They had the chance to remake each of their songs to fit their unique styles.
When Zahara or Bongeziwe sang, Joss could not contain her excitement and a great smile spread across her face.
It was one of those classical and rare collaborations, and although Joss struggled with some Xhosa lyrics, in the end she nailed them.
Speaking to SunBuzz an excited Zahara said: “Joss liked my music and her management googled me and contacted our office.
“I was so humbled. I love her music so I couldn’t say no to meeting her and singing together.”
When asked about their performance, she said: “It was beautiful and felt like a jam session. It was just too nice.
“My dream to make our music popular overseas is coming true and this is one of the steps we have taken.”
Joss said she loves Zahara’s voice and had to meet her.
The two will collaborate and work on a song before Joss leaves to continue her world tour
