The video was due to debut in full today on various platforms but AKA insisted on giving the fans what they wanted, and released the video on YouTube at 10am yesterday, citing that his fans were the most important people so they deserved to see the video before it aired on various channels.
24 hours later, the Congratulate video is sitting at 15k+ views on YouTube. #CongratulateVid flooded social media timelines and was trending all day all over South Africa.
The Congratulate video marks AKA’s directorial debut as he co-directed the music video with award winning director, Amr Singh.
Top Billing covered the behind the scenes making of the Congratulate video which aired last night. Top Billing was also the first television platform to air the video.
AKA’s Congratulate track has been topping the SA iTunes chart and SA iTunes Hip Hop charts since its debut. It’s currently on high rotation on stations across the country and featured on numerous radio stations’ Top charts weekly.
