STANDARD BANK JOY OF JAZZ FESTIVAL TO HIT THE CITY OF GOLD - JOBURG

When the standard Bank Joy of Jazz festival eventually hits Joburg, the city will ring with the sound of some of the best jazz in the world!

Two Grammy award winning artists are part of the stellar line-up for the 2014 Standard Bank Joy of Jazz which sees the country's premiere jazz festival move to a new and a new date.

The new-look 2014 Standard Bank of Joy of Jazz will take place this year, and for the next years, at the Sandton Convention Centre and on a new date - from September 25 to 27. The new move allows the festival to continue its spectacular growth and also means that for the first time audiences will be able to buy a full festival pass to the four main stage - Dinaledi, Conga, Diphala and Mbira - in line with jazz festivals around the globe.

Making their debuts in the festival's new home will be two top flight Grammy award winning artists, one of whom walked away with a Grammy earlier this year. American Jazz vocalist Gregory Porter - won the Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album for his recording Liquid Spirit. He'll be joined at the new look festival by two time Grammy award winning trumpeter Roy Hargrove. S.A's own are are Herbie Tsoaeli, The Jazz Divas, Gloria Bosman, Melanie Scholtz, Sibongile Khumalo, Tutu Puoane, Jonas Gwangwa, Kyle Shepherd and many more...

The festival is expected to attract more than 30 000 fans to the Sandton Convention Centre from Thursday to Saturday and to bring in about R600 million to the Gauteng economy.

Building up to the weekend of the festival, Egoli becomes the centre of the jazz Universe, attracting people from all walks of life, including top executives from companies operating in music, film, TV, the digital arts and distribution.

The festival has established itself as one of the top 10 jazz events in the world.
